THE BRIEF
Words That Inspire Young Minds
St Columba College wanted its walls to do more than look good. The idea was to surround students with words worth remembering: quotes about courage, curiosity and the power of learning.
We hand-lettered a series of quotes across the college’s stairwells and common spaces, including “Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded”, “To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield” and Nelson Mandela’s “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
Each quote was sized and styled for its wall, so it reads clearly from a distance and still feels crafted up close.
THE PROCESS
How We Hand-Letter a Quote Wall
No vinyl, no stencils. Every letter is laid out, traced and painted by hand.
1. Tracing
We measured each wall and Carolina traced every line of the quote in place, checking spacing and alignment with a laser level.
2. Hand-lettering
Diego painted the letters freehand with a brush, following the traced outlines to keep every stroke crisp.
3. Side by side
On the longer quotes, we worked side by side so the style and weight of the lettering stayed consistent from start to finish.
4. Clean finishing
Every edge was refined by hand for sharp, clean letters that look just as good up close as from across the room.
WATCH THE PROCESS
See It Come to Life
Watch a blank school wall turn into an inspirational quote, one hand-painted letter at a time.
We share the making of every project on TikTok and Instagram, so you can see exactly how your wall would be painted.
