A Motivational Mural for a Tutoring Centre
A space-themed mural in the Tutors SA brand colours, turning a plain chill-out area into a place that tells students every day: keep going.
THE BRIEF
A Space That Felt Too Flat
Tutors SA is an Adelaide tutoring centre for students from Reception to Year 12. Kids come through its doors every day, but the space didn’t show it. The walls were plain white and the student chill-out area felt flat, with nothing to say this was a place built for young people.
The idea was a mural for the chill-out area, painted in the Tutors SA brand colours, with a message to motivate students to be a little better every day.
We landed on a playful space theme, with a moon, stars, a floating astronaut and flowing purple waves, framing the words: “A little progress each day adds up to BIG RESULTS”.
THE PROCESS
From White Wall to Outer Space
Every shape was sketched, cut in and painted by hand in the Tutors SA brand colours.
1. Sketching
We sketched the moon, waves and lettering straight onto the white wall, scaled to fit around the electrical box.
2. First colours
The light blue moon went on first, rolled out to give the design its anchor.
3. Cutting in
Each purple wave was cut in by brush for smooth, clean curves.
4. Brand purple
We rolled the deep brand purple around the lettering, then added the stars and astronaut.
